These SCHMETZ ELx705 Serger / Overlock Needles are designed for compatible sergers and overlock machines that specifically require the ELx705 needle system.

ELx705 is not a universal serger needle system. Before purchasing, check your machine's instruction manual and confirm that ELx705 is listed as the recommended needle system.

Designed for Serger & Overlock Machines

The SCHMETZ ELx705 features a reinforced blade designed to withstand the high-speed operation of compatible sergers and overlock machines.

Unlike a standard household sewing machine needle, the ELx705 has two grooves – one on the front and one on the back. This specialized construction helps support the stitch formation required for serger and overlock stitches.

The slightly rounded point makes these needles suitable for a variety of woven and knit fabrics.

Size 90/14

This package contains five size 90/14 needles. Compared with a finer 80/12 needle, the 90/14 size has a larger diameter and is a good choice when serging medium-weight to heavier fabrics.

For finer lightweight to medium-weight fabrics, a smaller needle size such as ELx705 80/12 may be more appropriate, provided your machine also specifies the ELx705 needle system.

Is ELx705 Compatible With My Serger?

Compatibility depends on the specific model of your machine, not simply its brand. Different sergers made by the same manufacturer may use different needle systems.

Check your owner's manual for “ELx705” before ordering. If your manual specifies another needle system, such as BLx1, DCx1 or 130/705 H, do not substitute ELx705 unless the machine manufacturer specifically confirms compatibility.

Do not use ELx705 needles in a standard home sewing machine unless the manufacturer specifically recommends this needle system.

ELx705 vs. ELx705CF

This product is the standard ELx705 needle. It should not be confused with the separate ELx705CF Chrome version sold by SCHMETZ.
