This 100% cotton corduroy fabric features a distinctive 6 wale wide-rib texture for a bold, classic corduroy look. With approximately six raised cords per inch, this wide-wale corduroy has a pronounced texture that adds depth and character to both garments and accessories.
This cotton corduroy has a substantial weight that works particularly well for garments that benefit from structure and durability. The soft raised surface and wide ribs make it an excellent choice for creating timeless fall and winter wardrobe pieces.
Ideal for pants, trousers, jackets, chore coats, skirts, overalls, pinafores and structured dresses, this solid corduroy can also be used for bags and accessories where a textured cotton fabric is desired.
What Is 6 Wale Corduroy?
The wale number refers to the number of raised cords or ribs per inch of fabric. A 6 wale corduroy has approximately six cords per inch, creating wider and more pronounced ribs than fine-wale corduroy. The lower the wale number, the wider the cords.

Tips for Sewing Corduroy
Corduroy has a directional nap, which means the fabric can appear different depending on the direction of the ribs and pile. For a consistent finish, place your pattern pieces in the same direction when cutting.
When pressing corduroy, avoid applying heavy pressure directly to the right side of the fabric, as this can flatten the raised cords. Whenever possible, press from the wrong side and use a pressing cloth or another piece of corduroy underneath to help protect the texture.
